The Virtues of a Pop Up Gazebo

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

People all over the world make good use of every opportunity to use a pop up gazebo. They are used for all sorts of outdoor events and are especially popular for supplying shelter at home garden parties. Pop up gazebos are instant set up shelters that are quite portable and can be taken any where and set up in just a couple of minutes. These rather inexpensive shelters are used to provide protection from wind, rain or sun at public events, camping sites and a variety of celebrations.

Manufacturers supply almost any size structure that you could want; they come in an assortment of colors with the typical framework (standard size) measuring 10 ft. X 10 ft. Each tent can be set up side by side to form one long shelter or any unique square geometric pattern required for special events. Each structure provides a top canopy and most offer functional side panels that can be added or removed easily with ties or Velcro strips. This makes it simple to provide instant shade or protection as the sun or wind patterns change.

These tents are often used at outdoor weddings or reception ceremonies making for a beautiful gala event. Vendors like the easy set up for hocking their wares at flea markets, supplying instant relief from the sun. They are great for providing shelter at barbecues and staking out your spot at the beach.

Transporting pop up gazebos is quite simple as most have a carrying bag for toting the tent from place to place. The tent is constructed of a lightweight aluminum frame with a cloth or vinyl cover, which compacts down to a small size fitting snugly into a portable tote.

An inexpensive portable pop up gazebo can be purchased from suppliers around the world for whatever purpose you require. Take advantage of the many virtues of a pop up gazebo and use yours for the next holiday, horse race or outdoor concert.

Pros and Cons of Real Wicker or Synthetic Wicker Outdoor Furniture

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

As the snowflakes fade and we all begin to thaw out, excitement builds as we look forward to outdoor season.

In the summer, a good choice for relaxing outdoors is wicker furniture. Two alternatives are available in this type of furniture; real, or Rattan, and Synthetic, which includes PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and PE (polyethylene). Each type offers advantages and disadvantages.

Wicker in common usage has come to mean a type of chair, but is actually the latticework of plant fiber, or in the present day, synthetic material, woven around a frame. This then can be used for anything from baskets to furniture. Natural materials used for wicker include Reed, Bamboo, Rattan, Cane and even Willow. Wicker also has a long history, utilized by the Chinese, Egyptians, Ancient Europeans and Indonesians.

Natural rattan is a robust material, strong and stiff. It is environmentally friendly and when skillfully made is strong and beautiful. Rattan however can rot, discolor, has a limited number of choices where color is concerned and can be prone to insect damage. To counteract this disadvantage, High-grade rattan is specially treated with a coat of lacquer and when dipped in resin gives protection rivaling synthetics.

PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and PE (polyethylene) give greater durability although PVC is less durable than PE and harsher to the environment. Neither choice needs any real maintenance and color choice is far greater than Rattan. Cheaper versions of Synthetic wicker may not look as good as a traditional wicker weave, but there are types that will approximate the weave very well.

All in all, it comes down to personal preference, to use natural materials that lend warmth but have impermanent tendencies and limited color choices, or to use synthetics offering permanence, a multitude of color choices that might be more harmful to the environment.

It is nice to accessorize your larger pieces with wicker storage baskets for holding magazines.  Wicker baskets for toys also work well.

Regardless of which type of outdoor wicker furniture you select, you are sure to be happy with this classic style.

Here’s Some Ideas Regarding Wicker Bathroom Furniture

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

You know a good thing when you see it and wicker is just one of those materials that seems to withstand the test of time. This is true in several respects. First of all, the material itself is very durable and can last for a long time with the proper care. Second, it just has an appeal that can be used over the years without getting stale. Some home or bedroom decorating materials or features age quite quickly. Wicker makes for great indoor and outdoor furniture pieces. It comes in a variety of style, but they could be categorized generally into natural and synthetics. On the natural side, you’ve got rattan and on the synthetic side is just manmade materials that are designed to look like rattan or give you that wicker appearance.

As mentioned, one popular area you’ll find these pieces are outdoors. You can find many a patio filled with wicker chair sets and benches. Some more trendy designs even have stackable wicker furniture pieces. They have a great ability to withstand the elements outdoors with proper use and care. It can be hard to care for them properly if used in a setting that tests their bounds. This is true of areas like the dry, desert southwest where dust and extreme intense sunlight can wreak havoc on your patio furniture. It still makes a great choice for beneath a covered patio, though. One area where wicker makes for a great choice is indoors, specifically, in the bathroom space.

There are several reasons for this. One of the main reasons why you might be looking for wicker bathroom furniture is that you know of its benefits for mildew protection and ease of cleaning. In a bathroom, these are important features. Moisture in a bathroom leads to problems with musty smells, mold and other problems not found in the drier climates within your home. You can find wicker cabinets and other items that can hold your bathroom necessities like towels and toiletries all while giving you a very clean look. The particular style of weave can also give you a modern feeling to your wicker bathroom furniture as distinct from an outdoor patio set.

Rattan and wicker cube furniture are similar in the fact that they are made from woven materials found in nature. This makes them perfect to mold into a variety of shapes, but it is also durable enough to be used outside. The rattan or wicker is coated in a sealant to prevent warping, mold and the like, so you can use this furniture even out in wet weather.

When you use rattan garden furniture, you need to make sure that you repeat the geometric theme throughout your outdoor space. This may mean that you use square tiles for the flooring or you put cube lighting around the space. You can use some natural lines with square furniture, but you should at least repeat the square pattern somewhere nearby so everything looks cohesive.

You can play around a lot with the fabric of your wicker cube outdoor furniture. Some people like to get bold fabrics that match the bold lines of the furniture, and others like to keep everything subtle and solid. You can get something neutral that can last awhile and just use accent pillows to create a pop. Those can be inexpensively changes out whenever you want them to be.

If you do not think the cubes are going to be comfortable, you may think about having just a few of them around and then just using the same style of rattan in the rest of the space. You can keep the same color and material throughout, but you can change the form if need be. As long as you have some sort of consistency, everything should blend well together.

Most cube rattan pieces are made in black or tan, making them flexible for most decorating environments. Since rattan is a long lasting material anyway, you can rest assured that your investment into this garden furniture will not go unrewarded. Classic White Patio Furniture

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

It seems that every house that has a garden or patio has a piece of traditional plastic white outdoor furniture somewhere. But people still do not realize that there is so much more available in white than just plain old plastic.

We now have so many more options open to us that we can get white patio furniture in a range of different materials. Instead of plastic that always blows away and goes a funny color after a few years why not think of some of the other options?

We can now get coated aluminum in white that gives a lovely classical feel to the furniture. It is both elegant and extremely durable as well as being heavy enough to withstand wind but not so heavy as to be difficult to move.

Other options we no have are to buy even wicker or rattan in treated white. This can look very modern and is a material that is being used more and more in the garden. Although called wicker it is actually synthetic so it can withstand any weather and will stay looking clean and sparkling for many years.

And we should not forget that simple wood furniture with a coat of white paint can be a very durable way to still have the clean lines and simplicity that much white outdoor furniture has. All these options are now available to us for relatively low prices so we really should consider something other than just plain plastic materials for our outdoor furniture selections.

We can really make the most of our spaces if we choose something that is of a higher quality and of a material that is going to last a lot better than cheap plastic ever will. The sun can really ruin cheap plastic so it may be time to switch to something a little more elegant and something that actually enhances our outdoor spaces, rather than it being just purely functional in nature.

Why buy honeycomb shades

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

Cellular blinds, which is also known as honeycomb blinds due to the way their designs look like honeycomb from afar, are a beautiful addition to any home. Such blinds have been around and are gaining popularity over the years. Although they are still not as well known as wooden blinds, they have quite a number of qualities that make them good candidates for your windows.

Cellular blinds are very flexible when it comes to home decor as they can fit well with almost any decor theme. If you want your blinds to go from bottom to top or from top to bottom, cellular shades have both options. They can also be fitted as vertical blinds for larger window frames.

Another benefit of cellular blinds is their insulation ability. Unlike other blinds, cellular shades have layers of air trapped between their cells which created a good insulation layer. The thicker the cells are i.e. single, double or triple, the more powerful the insulation is. Hence, cellular shades are good for noise reduction as well as to maintain the temperature of the room. The latter can help to reduce the energy consumption level of the home and lower your electricity bills.

Finally, cellular blinds come with cordless versions. These are great for kids’ room as they are much more safer. Normal blinds have strings that young kids can fumbled into and get themselves entangled. In the worst case scenario, the strings can round up their neck and suffocate them to death. So, having cordless versions of blinds can definitely help to improve home safety.

Although there are benefits to buying cellular blinds, there are some drawbacks as well. For one, they are not as easy to clean due to the non flat surfaces that these blinds have. They are also more pricey than normal wooden blinds so people on a budget might find them too expensive.
